The oak tables leave the studio with two coats of hard-wax oil and a small tin of the same in the drawer. Once a year, or whenever water stops beading, wipe the top down and work a coin-sized amount along the grain.
Scratches are not damage; they are the finish doing its job. Sand lightly, re-oil, and the surface resets. The table should outlive the tin many times over.
